Subject: Max and Windows
Hello Hubert!

HK> Can you tell me what do you mean by EXTREMELY well...???
The BBS runs in the BG, I can do ANYTHING I can do in DOS at a reasonable
speed (not mind-blowing, but fast enough) and my users do NOT complain about
the speed of the BBS which is about as fast as it was on the 286.

If there are no errors and little speed loss, I'd say it runs great...
What more do you want? Besides, if Win isn't a multitasker how come I can
multitask with it?
HK> What other programs can you run same time with MAX ?
I only have 4 meg so I can't do TOO many things while Max is running, but
if I do one (or maybe two) things at once it is fine. Examples while the BBS
is running: Golded, SmartII (All modules), a second line, a local BBS
(bare-bones Max), Telemate (I can call out and DL something while somebody
else is on the board) etc. I have yet to find ANYTHING that won't run while
the BBS is running... I can even run Telemate and the BBS in the smallest
font windows, call my BBS and download while watching BOTH windows at once!
HK> I noticed that you can run to major problems once you have something

HK> happens next...:)
Actually, no I don't. B-}) Zmodem transfers may drop by 1 or 2 percent
(down to 228 or so), other protocols aren't affected by much either. Now, I'm
not running Excel of W4W or anything, mostly just DOS programs...
P.S>>>> Have you seen OS/2 2.0?
Not yet, but I've heard lots about it. I MAY make the switch if I can free
up some hard drive space... 250 megs of drive space and I've STILL only got
5% free! B-}) This sounds like the usual multitasker wars and I'm not going
to get involved. Needless to say, if you can afford OS/2 and the HD space it
is probably a good investment. If you already HAVE Win (especially 3.1) it
will work too. Personally, I find it easier and more reliable than even DV...
